what is autophagy and why do you need it?
Autophagy literally means "self-eating" and is the means by which worn out, dead, and diseased cells are broken down to generate new, disease-free cells. It is the body's natural recycling system. Simply put, autophagy is the key to slowing the aging process and all of the nasty diseases that come with it. The discovery of autophagy was actually awarded the Nobel Prize in 2016.
so how do we promote the process of autophagy in our bodies? 
Autophagy is your body's response to stress. So to achieve it, we need to place some healthy stress on the body. The act of skipping meals is one such stressful act that the body may not immediately love, but ultimately benefits greatly from. In fact, fasting has been shown to be the best way to stimulate the process of autophagy.
